Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office – Attention all Federal Firearms License Holders, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office will be holding an auction to sell hundreds of firearms currently being housed in the evidence room. These firearms have been in the possession of the sheriff’s office for many years and are listed as either seized, stolen or never claimed by the owner. As a matter of best practices, evidence rooms are routinely purged of old case evidence on an annual basis. A court order has been issued for the disposal of these weapons, which allows for us to auction them. Please note, none of these firearms were used in the commission of a crime.

  1. Wondering…if these firearms were not taken into possession by the Sheriff’s Dept. due to use in the “commission of a crime”, then why do they possess so many? Is this a product of civil asset forfeiture? Were they seized from innocent citizens only to be “lost” and now sold to Federal cardholders of a certain variety? I’ve heard of redristrobution of wealth but firearms too? Hopefully not.
