Luther Pecan Festival Underway

Pecans keep you energized and satisfied. Dubbed a superfood, pecans are good for brain health and gut health. They also are excellent in pie. Pecans make a good headliner for a festival too.

The Luther Pecan Festival kicks off Friday at 11 a.m. in the Couch Pecan Orchard. For two days the orchard on Route 66 is hosting the festival that features shopping, food, entertainment, pecans and pecan pie.

Couch Pecans is anchoring the festival and the new owners and staff have been working tirelessly to have all of the pecans ready, plus pecan gift baskets and other related gifts. Holiday baking season is well underway. Plus, it’s a great time to stock up on pecans for the whole year, just keep them refrigerated. Do you like them roasted, spiced or toasted for salads and snacking? Be sure to check out Couch Pecans’ super cool selfie area. (Please tag us when you post your pictures on social media!)

2021 Luther Pecan Festival

When we started moving in on Thursday, the vision of a festival IN THE ORCHARD that first lived in our heads, and then on paper, finally came to life. The atmosphere was festive and exciting as the artists and vendors started arriving, and the food trucks gingerly rolled in, clearing the trees and the branches that grow that nutty goodness that is bringing us all together. It was fun watching Diane Couch and Teri Stroud, the previous owner and the current owner, create their outdoor retail space. You’re going to love it.

It was also fun when some of the vendors took off from the orchard after setting up to hit the Chicken Shack, Our Town Eatery and Farmstead Cafe for lunch or dinner and explore the restaurants and sites around town. There were plenty of Sonic runs too. It was fun to see Pam Simmons’ friends come set up Rustic Farm’s booth in the orchard. You can also visit Rustic Farm on Main Street where she’s open Tuesday – Saturday! Find Luther Hardware & Lumber in the orchard, and at their location downtown. Fitness studio Studio 107 J’s Place will have info at the orchard, and a demo cardio drumming class on Saturday morning!

So Many Pies

Made with Couch pecans, there will be many pecan pies for sale, including miniature pecan pies, full-size traditional and some with chocolate! Ask for a fork if you can’t wait and need to eat some pecan pie right then and there!

Luther Friends of the Park will have a booth, and on Saturday, Friends of the Park will have a disc golf demonstration (coming soon to Wildhorse Park).

What you will find at the Luther Pecan Festival

  • Something to buy (finish that Christmas gift list)
  • Something to eat (lots of delicious food)
  • Something to enjoy (llamas, ponies, disc golf and music)
