With a sendoff from the band and cheerleaders, Luther’s Special Olympics Bowling Team competed Friday in the first Oklahoma State Special Olympics Bowling qualifying round at Boulevard Bowl in Edmond. This was one of the two competitions to qualify for state. It was a great day for our own Luther Lions as they all placed in the top three in their lanes. Angela Jones, Johannah Womack, Kody Moyer, Demetrius Sanders, and Cortez Sanders all placed first. Melia Gabe, Casie Ray, Russell Beavers, and Matthew Price placed second in their lanes while TJ Maxwell placed third. All of the students who placed first or second move on to the final qualifying round which will be held in Stillwater in May.

Teacher Melody Seather said after a break of about four years, Luther rejoined Special Olympics last year and they are so happy they did. When the bowlers returner to school, she said it was awesome to have students asked the team about their competition in the halls.

“I just love how our students support ALL athletes. It was so nice hearing them cheer for our SUPER athletes,” said Mrs. Seather.
It’s how they roll!
