Republican Congressional Candidate Stephanie Bice will make an appearance in Luther on October 3, 2019. Bice, currently a state senator, will have a forum at the Farmstead Cafe, 116 S Main from 5:30 – 7 pm. Bice is running to represent the state’s fifth congressional district, elected every two years.

“It’s important to me to reach out to folks across the district to have the opportunity to listen to their concerns and find out how I can help them as their Congresswoman. It also gives them the opportunity to meet me, learn more about me and ask questions,” said Bice.
“I also hope that events like these encourage people to be more active in their communities and not be afraid to voice their opinions, whether that’s meeting with their local city councilman or emailing their state representative.”
INFORMATION ABOUT BICE VIA HER CAMPAIGN: In a few short years, Stephanie Bice has earned a reputation as one of Oklahoma’s most effective conservative leaders. Elected to the State Senate in 2014, Stephanie serves as Assistant Majority Floor Leader in the Oklahoma Senate and Chair of Senate Finance Committee.

Stephanie modernized Oklahoma’s liquor laws by engineering the first overhaul since 1959 when prohibition was repealed in Oklahoma. Hailed as a victory for consumers and for economic development, Stephanie’s efforts have expanded opportunities in Oklahoma for locally owned businesses by allowing them to sell their products on site resulting in dozens of new breweries, wineries and distilleries opening across the state and creating approximately 5000 new jobs. These common-sense changes have increased options for consumers allowing for the sale of wine and beer in grocery stores for the first time.

As chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Stephanie has led efforts to control state spending, which includes requiring legislative approval of line-item budgets for Oklahoma’s largest state agencies. Stephanie’s leadership skills and abilities garnered state and national attention. She received the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce Rising Star award and was selected a member of the Governing Institute Women in Government Leadership Class of 2016. She also was selected as part of the GOPAC Emerging Leaders program in 2015. A pro-life conservative, Stephanie has been endorsed by Oklahoma Right to Life and has maintained an A-rating from the National Rifle Association. After graduating from Oklahoma State with her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a minor in International Business, Stephanie worked for eight years in financial oversight, business strategy and marketing for her family’s technology company. Stephanie later helped lead a boutique digital marketing company in Oklahoma City as Vice President of Business Development. Because of that experience, Stephanie understands what it is like to sign the front and the back of a paycheck and is keenly aware of the challenges small business owners face as they strive to grow their companies. Stephanie is a fourth generation Oklahoman and a graduate of Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City. She and her husband Geoffrey have two daughters. They are members of St. Eugene Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. INFORMATION FROM BICE’S CAMPAIGN.

Bice is challenging first term incumbent Kendra Horn for the congressional seat that includes Luther and much of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Bice is among the announced Republican candidates who will compete in the primary next year to challenge Rep. Horn in next November.
The Luther event will have a conversational style, where Bice will meet guests individually and speak to the whole group. The Farmstead cafe will be open for diners to stay for dinner in addition to meeting Sen. Bice.
Bice is the latest candidate or elected official to visit Luther. Oklahoma County Commissioner Carrie Blumert visited Luther last month, and Governor Kevin Stitt campaigned in Luther in the summer of 2018.
