Lady Lions Go To State

Bison Blinds

Goal met. The Luther Lady Lions earned their ticket to the Girls 2A State Basketball Tournament in a sound defeat of Preston at the Enid Event Center on Saturday night. The score: 51 -44. LIONS ADVANCE.

The girls found a way to get to the “big house,” during the last possible game to get the bid. The Ladies were undefeated during post season play and were one win away from state until they met powerhouse Dale again on Friday night and lost. But there was one more chance. Can we hear it for the opportunity to rebound in “double-elimination” through a tournament?

The last chance win against Preston is huge for this team and Coaches Johnny Vick and Carrie Schwarz. There are only nine players on the team, including three freshman. The girls fought hard all season as chronicled in The Luther Register, with a goal to “make state” as their focus after coming so close last year.

The Team bus rolled in late Saturday night to a lights flashing escort by Luther Police.

Next GOAL. State Championship.

Congratulations to the team.

The Lady Lions will play HOWE on Thursday at 3:30 pm at Yukon High School. Tickets are $7 for both students and adults.
