The Luther Lions are back from break. The first game of the new year was one to watch. The Lions played the number 16 ranked 3A Christian Heritage Academy Crusaders on the Lions home court.

The Crusaders commanded the lead all game, but the Lions stayed on their heels, coming within one point of the lead a few times. The fourth period, however, spelled the end of the Lions hopes for a win, with a final 17-point spread. The Lions ended with a 69 to 52 loss to the Crusaders.
Senior Syrus Grisby led the team with 24 points, his season best. He also dominated in rebounds with 12, another season best. Junior Tyler Becker had seven points, five assists and two rebounds. Junior Cole Mills had eight points, five rebounds and four assists. Junior Gerald McCauley helped the team out with six rebounds and five points. Other Lions scorers were: Jake Lombard with four, Nick Hines with three and Luke Mohr with one.

The Lions are headed to Stroud next week, with a January 8 Tuesday night game and then back for a Thursday through Saturday tournament.
