
The Luther Lion varsity boys scored a big win for the home opener against the Meeker Bulldogs. They kept the momentum up from the girls’ big win with a crushing 85-33.
The starters Tuesday night game were seniors Syrus Grisby and Luke Mohr, and juniors Tyler Becker, Gerald McCauley and Cole Mills. The game started out right for Luther with a tipoff in the Lions’ favor, thanks to Grisby, with led to a quick basket by McCauley.
Mills rebounded a 3-point miss from Mohr and put it up for the next bucket. Midway through the first period, Becker stole a pass and made a fast break down the court for a layup. Quick steals from Mills, Becker and and McCauley ran up six more easy points rattling the Bulldogs trying to make it down the court. Nick Hines closed out the first period with a layup, making the score 27-6.

After halftime, Grisby smashed a slam dunk into the basket, making the crowd roar and cheer.
Grisby followed that quickly with another dunk, and then Becker ally-ooped to Grisby for another one. At the end of the third, Mills hit two three-pointers in a row. In the fourth quarter, Drew Scheer made an impressive jump shot to close out the night.
Grisby led the team in points with 16, followed closely by Becker with 15 and McCauley with 14.
The JV Boys lost in over-time by three points. The Lions will play December 11 at Dale at 8 p.m.
