Sidewalk Sale, Live Music, Veggies Here and There

Bison Blinds

Saturday is sale day in Luther. Main Street is having a good old fashion Sidewalk Sale to help celebrate the Grand Opening of the newest retailer in Town, Beth’s Baubles & Bits.

On the corner of Main and Second, Beth’s store is a resell marketplace filled with “baubles and bits” and books, jewelry, clothes, decor and more. The historic building that has been in the Lee family for more than 100 years is alive again. When you stop in, ask Beth about the arduous renovation. When she was held back by construction delays, she remembered her “can do” attitude and decided to learn how to do it herself, from demo to hammering to painting. She did a beautiful job, and it was a fine day when the Town awarded her an occupancy permit!

That’s how it goes for many Main Street retailers who are putting their heart and pocketbooks into renovating long-dormant buildings to live and serve again. Beth will have popcorn and face painting, and prizes, including gift certificates, donated by many of her retail neighbors. Luther businesses cheer each other on.

You’ll find bargains, unique products, cookies and fun at the other Main Street stores and eateries on Saturday, August 28.

And there will be live music. You’ll hear it down at Josephine’s Farmer’s Market in the shade between Josephine’s Cafe and S&H Mercantile. The McCray’s will have vegetables, and White House Herbs will be back this week.

To make a big day of it on Route 66, cruise over to Arcadia. Joe Baxter and the Round Barn Ramblers will provide Morning Music from 11 am – 1 pm. Saturday, July 28, at the Arcadia Round Barn. And the growing Arcadia Farmer’s Market also will be buzzing.

Respond to the FB Event page here, to let your friends know your coming (so they can meet you in Luther!).
