It took until July, but it’s finally summer in Luther. That is if the sure sign that summer is here is when the snow-cone stand opens. Monday was the day for the long-awaited opening of B&B Snow Shanty. New operators Billie McDaniels and Brittany McCoy officially opened and have big plans to offer walk-up and drive-up service in all of the flavors we love from raspberry to Tiger’s Blood. There are some new tastes too, like Dreamsicle and Banana’s Foster.
Every tenth customer gets a free snow cone and business was so swift that they had given away a couple snowcones just a couple of hours after they opened at 2 pm Monday. Both mothers with small children, Billie and Brittany are pursuing the opportunity to run a business, while still having the flexibility to care for their little ones. They have a growth model, possibly adding coffee service or smoothies in the future for morning commuters.
In addition to the traditional snowcones stands, the Snow Shanty has the latest in summer sweets to offer in the “On Fleek” option, a snowcone with ice cream, cream, cherry, cheesecake and sprinkles. It’s just $2 more!
The most important question for this particular week, YES, they will be open on July 4, from 1 – 8 pm. Most other days, the hours are 1 – 7 pm, and Saturday’s until 8 pm. Remember, the Town fireworks show begins at dark at Wildhorse Park. Grab a snow cone on the way.
