When Oklahoma Freewheel Bicyclists ride into Luther on June 12, they’ll have plenty of water and ice, thanks to a sponsorship the Luther Parks Commission received on the Town’s behalf from the Oklahoma County TSET Healthy Living Program. The $400 sponsorship was presented during the May 3 Parks Commission Meeting by Joshua Trope who is with TSET through the Oklahoma City-County Health Department.

The sponsorship is part of the “Rethink Your Drink” campaign to highlight the benefits of drinking water.
Luther Mayor Jenni White thanks TSET for the sponsorship, “It’s a very exciting time for our town,” she said. “The community can see what fun activities they can do when they are healthy. Freewheel is a great start to show how anyone can fight obesity and instill healthy habits while still having fun.”
Parks Commission Chair Kasey Wood said, “TSET’s sponsorship of nearly 2900 bottles of water and ice allows us to give the cyclists a nice, warm welcome to Luther, with hopes that they come back to the town in the following weeks and months. The sponsorship allows us to teach the bike rally children the importance of drinking water and choosing it over sugary drinks early on.”
Luther is one of eight host cities for the 2018 week-long tour across Oklahoma, promoting healthy lifestyles and the Sooner State. Oklahoma Freewheel begins June 10 in Elk City, with an overnight stop in Luther on June 12.
