Raelene Eddens is having a whirlwind senior year. She plays for the nationally ranked homeschool basketball program, Oklahoma City Storm, and is currently a top online vote getter for VYPE’s 2018 Miss Basketball Oklahoma Award.
Earlier this school year, Eddens signed to play college hoops with Oral Roberts University. The oldest child of Luther residents Pat and Hellen (Stanfield) Eddens, Rae wears the #23 because that’s the number her mom wore when she ruled the hardwood at LHS as a Lady Lion.
(Editor’s Note) I’ve had the pleasure of watching Raelene play for many years as part of the Storm Program (with my sons), and found these 2016 photos of her playing in a Kansas City homeschool regional tournament, a tournie her team easily won, as I recall. It’s always thrilling (and sad) when players reach their senior year. You know you’ll miss them, so you hang on to the moments of a frenetic season, cheering all the way. Rae has battled some injuries, but she’s a great rebounder, so much so that she’s in the top of the running for this competition with VYPE.
Keep voting through January 28.
