October is (almost) here

Support Community News.

Football, fund-raisers and festivals. The crisp autumn months bring many activities to get on our calendar. There is much to enjoy and celebrate in Luther this time of year. And some good causes to support.

OCTOBER 5
Carnival at Luther Elementary. It benefits teachers and their classrooms. And the cafeteria will be selling fresh cinnamon rolls. Contact Kristi Dodson at (405) 277-3661 for pre-orders. A tin is $5 for six rolls; or a dollar each at the carnival which will be in the evening after school on Thursday, October 5. There’s also something about a “pie in the face” contest featuring school board members and principals. That’s a must-see!

OCTOBER 10
First Christian Church is hosting a fund-raiser Josh Pridemore, injured in a motorcycle accident back in the summer. Watch for details on this, but we hear there’s a raffle involved for a couple of firearms. There’s a story!

OCTOBER 14
It’s the annual FALL craft fair at Open Door Assembly of God. All sorts of vendors are needed.

October 28

The Town of Luther officially will recognize Halloween on Saturday with a big community-wide event. Details are coming together, businesses, churches and organizations are asked to get in on the fun. Looks like we might have an amazing parade of costumes and a lot of candy along Main Street and throughout town beginning at 5pm. Then it will be movie time at Wildhorse Park at 7pm, thanks to Opus Entertainment (bring chairs and blankets). The Saturday event leaves open the option for families to hit up the neighbors for MORE candy, or get to bed early because it’s a school night on actual Halloween, Tuesday, October 31!

November 15 & 18

November 18 Main Street

We might as well mention a bit about November while we are at it. Couch Pecans opens on Wednesday, November 15, and The Luther Register’s production of The Luther Pecan Festival is that Saturday, November 18. More than 35 artists are coming, along with a variety of foodtrucks, and an impressive roster of music. We might as well confirm the rumor, SANTA IS ALSO COMING, and you can have pictures made with him and enjoy all of the other kid activities. So bring everyone for a celebration of pecans, art, food, holidays and shopping, but mostly come to celebrate Luther. Special thanks to sponsors 116 Farmstead, Market & Table, Winton Law, Luther First Bank & Trust, Olsen Orthopedics, Triangle Silt Dike, Choctaw’s Healthcare Express, OG&E, AtLink, Airosurf, Dump Depot and Thermal Kat Heating & Air Conditioning. Keep up with the latest on the event’s Facebook Page.

How’s that for #lutherlocal?
