Luther Town Trustee
Candidate Forum
Tuesday, March 21, 2017
5:30 pm – Reception
6:15 pm – Candidate Forum
Broken Horn Ranch Events Center
19680 North Luther Road
On that evening on March 21, after a time for networking in the beautiful event facility for guests to mingle with the candidates, we will invite the eleven candidates to two head tables. One table will be for the seven “four-year” candidates, and the other table for the four “two-year” candidates.
The four-year candidates are Mike McClure, Trandy Langston, Paxton Cavin, Jenni White, Ron Johnson, Birlene Langley and Andy McDaniels. Voters will select three names on their ballot.
The two-year candidates are Jason Roach, Herbert Keith, Carolyn Lawson and Cecilia Taft.
During the Forum, each candidate will be asked to give up to a one-minute introduction, and then a moderator will ask pre-submitted questions.
What are the questions? That’s what we are asking dear readers of The Luther Register. Please submit your questions in the comments section below or send an email to dawnshelton@lutherregister.news.
According to sidewalk chat, visiting with neighbors, business owners and voters, here are just a few topics being discussed as the election nears:
- Blight in the town; and rebuilding plans
- Aging water and sewer systems
- Town management, to improve decorum, communication, and strategic planning
- Budgeting: and the town’s financial health
- Growth with businesses, jobs, and Town revenue
- To annex or not to annex
- Downtown parking
- The Luther Economic Development Authority
- What are the other issues?
Are you curious about the candidates? Have you read the Luther Register’s 2017 Voter’s Guide? It features all candidates who participated in the exercise. If you need to get up to speed on issues since November 2015, when the Luther Register began, check out the “Town” tab in the search section on the website. There are 90 of them!
All candidates, by the way, are invited to the forum, even those who did share an email address on their candidate information and did not participate in the voter’s guide service.
The Forum will be broadcast on FB Live.
