An oath, an audit and an interview

Support Community News.

The Luther School Board meets in a Special Meeting, Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 6pm in the Auditorium boardroom.

It’s a brief agenda, but packed full of action.

The oath of office will be administered to new board member Tony Rumpl, who was elected to the board in the February 14 election. He defeated Matt Mohr who was the board president.

At Thursday’s meeting, the board will reorganize and elect a president and other officers. In addition to presiding over the meetings, the board president also sets the meeting agendas with the superintendent.

Superintendent Dr. Sheldon Buxton told the board at last week’s meeting that a special meeting was in order to review results of the school audit that must be done in February. This is the annual audit and this year was performed by Ralph Osborn, CPA, for the 2015-2016 school year. Incidentally, this is not the audit from the State Auditor’s office.

Finally, the board will meet behind closed doors to “interview applicant/s for superintendent of schools. Whether the new board interviews superintendent applicant Mr. Barry Gunn, middle school principal, remains to be seen.

The meeting, minus the executive session, will be broadcast on FB Live, Thursday evening.
