- Other notes:
- Luther Superintendent Sheldon Buxton’s statement regarding safety at Luther Public Schools today:
- “We were on partial lockdown today. Ironically, the plans we are working on now for Luther would identify the exact protocol that would be utilized in this scenario. I believe that the biggest issue with safety is a concise and useable communication plan between the police, fire, and school. This is what I am pushing toward with our safety plan this year,” said Dr. Buxton
- Sheriff Whetsel was among the many officers on the scene in Luther last night during the manhunt and then at the scene of the Whitson’s home.
- Luther Police Chief Marcus Thurman: “VANCE is armed with an AK-47 and possibly a .22 rifle. It has been reported that VANCE is HIV positive, and he may try to spread the disease to others.”
