WEEK 3: Homecoming and a Loss

Story and Photos by Sydney Scheer

The homecoming game result is not the one we want to see in the record books. Our team was given a run for its money , and came up short on the scoreboard (6-34). The Lions seemed to have trouble finding offensive yardage percentages, while the Prague Red Devils racked them up.

The few interceptions received by Luther just were not enough to bring the team out on top for game three of the season. With a somber crowd, team, and sideline, the morale of the game was not what Luther Lion Football is all about. The roaring crowd was resting in the jungle tonight, except those hollering at the referees! What a night!

There were a few big plays, both on offense and defense. We snagged interceptions and had a few big plays on runs up the middle, as well as seeing our quarterback playing the receiver slot to change it up a little. Excitement was elevated at the block of the field goal and sacking the quarterback. The second half showed a little more energy on the field, but our boys just couldn’t pull out the win. Luther Lions are heading into week four out of a loss. The Lions now have a 2-1 record for 2016.

Next week, the Lions travel east on Hwy 66 to take on the Chandler Lions in hopes of adding to the winning record that they are known for. #MyTown
