The Anna’s House Foundation hosted a Back-To-School event at their residential community north of Luther on Saturday night. The sweltering August heat did not keep away the children and families who came for the water slide, bounce house, craft tent, dinner and filling up brand-new backpacks with school supplies.

The Anna’s House Foundation provides a personal network of support for families caring for children in foster care, and the unique needs these children share. Anna’s House offers a future of hope and faith to foster families by providing support, training and resources as well as housing in a Christian foster care community in Luther.
From Anna’s House website, “The goal of The Anna’s House Foundation is to recruit and support Christian families who open their homes at a moment’s notice to give immediate shelter, comfort and love to the most vulnerable among us. We partner with OKDHS to provide the highest level of care in Oklahoma County.”

The next big event for Anna’s House is a black-tie gala in Bricktown where some artwork painted at the Back To School event will be auctioned for a good cause! Last year, the event raised about $300,000 to help Anna’s House grow with more support and residential solutions for foster families.
Other Luther backpack giveaways will be at The Luther Community Service Center on Thursday, September 1 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Parents and guardians must provide proof that the students, from grades 1 – 6, live in Luther. Students must also signup beforehand on a Monday from 10 – 11:30 am or Thursday from 6 – 7:30 pm.
The Open Door Assembly of God, 310 S Ash, will have free backpacks and school supplies on August 28, 2016 at 5pm. The event will also offer games, prizes and snacks to get Luther Lions ready for a brand new school year.
