FROM 2016: The second night of Luther’s Community Grace Revival brought a message from Pastor Dwight Guy, of the Church of the Living God, based in part on a verse that begins the thirteenth chapter of Hebrews: “Let brotherly love continue.”
Pastor Guy encouraged revival attendees to live out their faith so that those looking at their actions – at work, at school or in the community – would be encouraged, not disappointed. He used apples as an illustration – that sometimes the fruit is shiny on the outside but rotten on the inside.

He said sometimes Christians can be like that, “talk good, look good but nasty on the inside.” Instead, he encouraged believers to be a light, and to “let brotherly love continue.”
“When people come to church, they want to feel loved,” he said.
The congregation took a collection for the Revival to fund the town’s ministerial alliance that helps folks with things like utility bills or emergency assistance. The Alliance also hosts a baccalaureate for graduating seniors where scholarships are given (attendance required to receive a scholarship!).
Congregational singing of hymns and worship songs like The Old Rugged Cross, Awesome God and We Bow Down preceded Pastor Guy’s message.
The revival moves across the street from the First Baptist Church to the First Christian Church on Tuesday at 7 pm where Pastor William Smith will speak.
