The parent group of the Luther Head Start program is having a luncheon, raffle and silent auction to raise money for Christmas presents for the 12 children in the program.

Parent Organizer Kandice Hicks said she hopes people will come in after church, or as part of their Sunday afternoon for a delicious home-made Sunday lunch to help a good cause.
The Head Start program helps low-income families with early education for three and four year old children. The program runs half-days Monday – Friday.
Hicks said money raised from the lunch, raffle and auction will pay for Christmas presents for the children. She said parent shoppers will focus on getting each child four things – something they WANT, something they NEED, something to WEAR and something to READ.
Head Start began in 1965, and each year serves more than one million children in urban and rural areas in all 50 states.
Hicks said donations of soft drinks or water bottles would be welcome for the event, and she is excited about the raffle and auction items that include tickets, and items for gifts and family fun.
