Mourning a loss

Unspeakable loss and grief hit a Luther family this morning when a house fire claimed the life of Tony Taylor, 48.

The fire began at 2 am Tuesday morning at his home at Seventh and Dogwood in Luther. His wife, Juanita, was treated  and released for smoke inhalation and is staying with friends.

Longtime residents of Luther, the couple is known for their selfless hearts and their ongoing work with the Luther Service Center. They are members of the Wilshire Church of Christ in Oklahoma City.

Luther Church of Christ Minister Chris Hill said Tony and Juanita were always giving and helping. Just a few short weeks ago, they helped out with a funeral of a church member and catered a funeral meal themselves.

What makes this story even more heartbreaking is the Taylor’s lost their son, Caleb, in a wreck on the turnpike in March of this year. Caleb was 25.

The couple’s daughter was not home last night.

Ways to help the family and support them will be made known soon.
